An 8-day Serengeti Great Migration safari is one of the most popular Tanzania safari tours, designed to give travellers the best chance of witnessing the iconic wildebeest and zebra migration. This adventure typically begins with game drives in Tarangire National Park, famous for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds, before heading to the legendary Serengeti National Park.

You’ll spend several days exploring different regions of the Serengeti, including the Northern Serengeti and the Mara River, where dramatic river crossings take place as wildebeest and zebras battle strong currents and lurking predators. Multiple game drives maximize your chances of seeing this once-in-a-lifetime wildlife spectacle, along with the Big Five and other plains game.

The safari also includes a full-day exploration of the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most special places for a safari in Tanzania. It is the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera, formed millions of years ago when a giant volcano collapsed. The crater is about 600 meters deep and 19 kilometers wide, creating a natural home for many wild animals.

Inside the crater, you can see a large variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, and hippos. It is also one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the rare black rhino, which is very hard to find in other parks. The beautiful lake inside the crater, Lake Magadi, often attracts flamingos and other birds.

Ngorongoro is part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which also protects the land of the Maasai people. It’s one of the few places where people and wildlife live together in harmony.

Because the animals stay inside the crater year-round, you can visit any time of the year. A game drive here gives you a great chance to see many animals in a single day, all surrounded by amazing views.
