Best Time to Visit
The best time for a Tanzania safari is during the dry season (late June to October), ideal for wildlife viewing as animals gather around water sources, and the Great Migration features dramatic river crossings in the Serengeti (July-August). The short dry season (January-February) offers clear skies and fewer crowds, perfect for photography. The green season (March-May) brings lush landscapes and lower rates, though light rains may occur. For the Ngorongoro Crater, year-round access ensures excellent wildlife sightings, with February being prime for wildebeest calving in the Serengeti.

Nestled at the foot of Mount Meru, this vibrant city offers a peaceful introduction to your Tanzanian adventure. Relax after your flight, enjoy views of lush gardens, and get a full briefing from your safari guide to prepare for the journey ahead.
Overnight: Mid-range lodge in Arusha
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most underrated gems. Famed for its ancient baobab trees and large herds of elephants, Tarangire also shelters buffalo, giraffe, lions, zebras, and a rich variety of birdlife. Enjoy a full-day game drive along the Tarangire River, a key water source that attracts diverse wildlife, especially during the dry season. In the evening, arrive at your cozy safari lodge overlooking the savannah.
Overnight at Sangaiwe Tented Lodge
After an early breakfast, journey through the scenic highlands and Ngorongoro Conservation Area en route to Serengeti National Park. This world-famous park is home to the Great Migration, a breathtaking spectacle of over two million wildebeest and zebra on the move. Enter the endless plains and enjoy your first Serengeti game drive in search of big cats like lions, cheetahs, and leopards, as well as elephants, hippos, and more. Arrive at your tented camp in time to watch the sunset over the vast savannah.
Overnight at Into Wild Africa
Spend a full day exploring the central Serengeti or northern Serengeti depending on the season and wildlife movement. Your guide will track the Great Migration, offering close encounters with wildebeest herds, predators on the hunt, and dramatic river crossings (seasonal). Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild and continue your game drive across varied landscapes, grasslands, acacia forests, and rocky outcrops called kopjes. Each hour offers a new surprise in this wildlife paradise.
Overnight: Same mid-range tented camp in Serengeti
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive as you exit Serengeti and head toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five, lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard in a single day. The crater floor is teeming with wildlife, and you’ll enjoy a packed lunch beside a hippo-filled lake. In the late afternoon, ascend the crater rim and check into your charming lodge with sweeping views of the highlands.
Overnight: Country Lodge Karatu
On your final safari day, visit Lake Manyara National Park, a lush park nestled between the Great Rift Valley escarpment and the lake. Famous for its tree-climbing lions, flamingos, and hippo pools, this small but diverse park offers a refreshing contrast with its groundwater forest, open grasslands, and acacia woodlands. After a half-day game drive and picnic lunch, drive back to Arusha. Depending on your flight schedule, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your departure or enjoy a final overnight stay in Arusha.
End of Safari. Karibu tena – You’re always welcome back.
